YOUR KITCHEN DOESN’T HAVE TO LOOK CHEAP

It’s not vain to want your house to look nice, and nobody wants the words “cheap” associated with their home. Believe it or not, your kitchen is the heart of your household (not the living room), and that’s where a lot of design faux pas occur. This article will address a few of the more prevalent mistakes in kitchen design.

(1) FLUORESCENT LIGHTS - JUST DON’T

This is not a novel concept, but people make this mistake far too often – nobody looks good in fluorescent lighting, ever; so why do you have it? Additionally, that type of lighting just screams cheap, so avoid it at all costs. More importantly, who wants their kitchen to feel like an office? You already spend at least a third of your day in one, who wants to feel like they’re still at work when they get home?

(2) CLUTTER IS NOT YOUR FRIEND

We have mentioned this on a number of occasions, but why not mention it again? Clutter is ugly and sends a bad message to people who are exposed to it; it might be unfair, but people with too much clutter don’t look like they have their life together. It’ easy enough to reduce clutter, just develop the habit of cleaning up after yourself.

(3) FAKE PLANTS ARE CHEAP, FULL STOP

It’s perfectly reasonable to want some greenery in your kitchen but avoid plastic plants at all costs. Grabbing a few small potted plants is a cheap but effective way to spruce up your kitchen with class.

(4) JUST AVOID PLASTIC COMPLETELY

Building off the plastic plants conundrum, let’s take it one step further – just avoid plastic entirely (it’s bad for the environment anyways). That plastic trashcan on your tiled floor? Go out and buy a metal one, then throw your plastic trash can into that new metal one – you’re welcome. If you don’t have the $30 to burn, consider putting that plastic nonsense somewhere out of sight. At the Chernov Team we understand that knowledge is power and preventing your house from appearing “cheap” may actually result in a quicker sale or more money in the long run. Ultimately, it is very easy to avoid that appearance. At the Chernov Team we know that whoever comes to the table most prepared leaves with the most, and the Chernov Team always leaves the table with the most.
