Let’s Sell a House: The Habits of the Effective Home Seller

Everyone who has a friend who has had their house sell quickly, and most of them chalk 100% of that up to their friend’s agent; this is only partially true, there are a lot of habits these home sellers maintain that assist them in quickly selling their homes. Of course, having a skilled agent from the Chernov Team will help maximize the effects of those habits, but those habits are a major factor in the speed their home sells.

This article will briefly discuss the habits of efficient seller.

Tidy Up Every Day

Last week, we discussed the habits of people who manage to keep their houses presentable at all times, take a moment to read that article, as a clean house is a house that sells. Maybe you don’t want to develop these habits before you put your house on the market but cleaning every day will keep your house presentable for those spur of the moment showings. It may seem a little childish, but create a daily chore list for your household, make sure the trash always gets taken out, the rooms are free of clutter and are vacuumed, and your surface are dust-free every single day.

Promptly Respond to Offers on Your House

A key distinction between the successful home seller, and the home seller that has to wait months, has to do with how devoted the seller is to the process. The most successful home sellers typically respond to offers on their homes quickly; buyers tend to get a little squeamish when their offer doesn’t receive a response – this makes them doubt whether purchasing the home is a wise choice. Never forget that emotions play an important role in real estate.

Spread the Word

Like a vegan or a new mother, make sure you tell everybody that your home is for sale; put pictures of it on Facebook, abruptly mention it in the middle of conversations, Snapchat stories and videos of your now-for-sale home – whatever it takes to get your house noticed.

Do a Deep Clean Every Single Week

Pick a day, preferably during the weekend (we’re not animals after all) to perform a thorough cleaning of your home; this includes cleaning your pets if they are the type to get dirty, and drag aforementioned dirt throughout the house.

Clean Your Closets and Cabinets Every Month

Begin donating unwanted items from your cabinets and closets, sure that peacock coat you own looks cool now, but you haven’t worn it since Halloween 2003; it should probably go. Storage space is incredibly important to perspective buyers, and you want to highlight how spacious your closets and cabinets are. By removing unnecessary clutter, those storage spaces’ full potential will be on display… plus it’s 2019 and nobody needs that coat. Ever again.

Meet with Your Agent Every Month

It’s a bit strange that we need to remind you of this, but you want to stay in touch with your agent – assuming you want to sell your house in the next year. Your agent, if they are good, will be keeping track of the market in the areas you are looking to buy as well as your current neighborhood. This knowledge of the market trends in your area is a major component to making a sale, and a skilled agent knows how to capitalize on subtle shifts in the market.

At the Chernov Team, we take pride in our understanding of real estate, including little tips and tricks to help move the process along – that’s the goal after all. At the Chernov Team we understand that whoever shows up to the table most prepared, leaves with the most. The Chernov Team always leaves the table with the most.
